The mechanism made sense: it was simple, had a good fidget factor, and allowed for one-handed operation. We spent a lot of time studying existing bolt-action mechanisms to better understand what we did and didn’t like. There’s a balance to strike between proper fidget factor and ease of use. The shape of the slot for the bolt is the key factor in determining how the action feels in hand: how much force is required to push it down, how easily it locks up, and how easily it unlocks. We tested dozens of variations until we found one that felt right—balancing functional needs with fidgetability. The Kent uses a slimmer-diameter steel barrel and a slightly shorter length, making it better suited for daily carry.
